<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Yet workplace mental health is </span><b>still treated as a voluntary effort rather than a legal responsibility. </b></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Unlike physical safety, psychosocial well-being</span><b> depends heavily on employer goodwill.</b></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This creates gaps that </span><b>no amount of good intention can fully close.</b></p>

<h2><span style="font-weight: 400;">Why the Current System Is Not Enough</span></h2>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Mental health challenges are rising alongside </span><b>economic pressure, workload demands, and cultural stigma.</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Without clear mandates, workplace wellness programs often</span><b> depend on budgets and leadership priorities.</b></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Industry voices highlight that existing laws like </span><a href="https://dosh.gov.my/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Occupational-Safety-and-Health-Act-1994-Act-514_Reprint-Version-1.6.2024_English.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><span style="font-weight: 400;">OSHA 1994</span></a> <b>do not clearly address psychosocial risks.</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Mental Health Act</span><b> focuses on treatment, not workplace rights. </b><span style="font-weight: 400;">As a result, access to mental health support</span><b> varies widely between organisations.</b></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This uncertainty affects</span><b> staff morale, productivity, and long-term resilience.</b></p>

<h2>Growing the Next Generation of Mental Health Professionals</h2>
<p>Malaysia’s future depends on <strong>how we support those who care for our collective well-being.</strong> Expanding mental health counseling, therapy, and training opportunities, especially for fresh graduates is crucial.</p>
<p>We need more spaces in public universities, scholarships, and partnerships between government, NGOs, and private institutions to ensure people can <strong>get the help they need when they need it.</strong></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Mental health deserves </span><b>equal recognition alongside physical health.</b><span style="font-weight: 400;"> </span></p>
